Health & MedTech:
Intelligent Healthcare for Every Kenyan

Kenya has 1 doctor per 5,000 people, one of the world's lowest ratios. Popnants Labs engineers AI diagnostic tools, telemedicine infrastructure, digital health records, and predictive public health systems to bridge the clinical gap and deliver healthcare intelligence to clinics, community health workers, and patients across Kenya's 47 counties.

The Challenge

A Healthcare System Stretched Beyond Capacity

Kenya's public health system serves 55 million people with infrastructure built for half that number. Rural counties have functional hospitals 80km apart. Community health workers cover populations of thousands with paper records and no diagnostic tools. Chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension go undetected for years. Maternal mortality remains 362 per 100,000 births, preventable with better monitoring.

The gap is not just funding, it's intelligence. Popnants Labs builds the data infrastructure and AI tools that let fewer healthcare workers do more, reach further, and catch problems earlier.

Our Mission: AI should close the gap between where doctors are and where patients are, not replace the doctor, but extend their reach to every village in Kenya.

Our Solutions

Seven Pillars of Digital Health Intelligence

From AI diagnostic assistants for community health workers to national disease surveillance dashboards, we engineer healthcare technology for Africa's clinical reality.

AI Diagnostic Assistant

Symptom-based AI triage tool enabling community health workers to assess patient conditions against clinical decision trees, flagging urgent cases, suggesting investigations, and documenting encounters for physician review. Works offline with sync when connected.

Offline-FirstClinical AI

Telemedicine Platform

Low-bandwidth video consultation platform optimised for Kenya's 2G/3G rural connectivity. Connects patients at level-2 clinics with specialists in Nairobi or Mombasa, with integrated digital stethoscope, image sharing, and prescription tools.

Low-Bandwidth Videoe-Prescription

Digital Health Records (EHR)

Lightweight Electronic Health Record system designed for Kenyan county health facilities, integrating with DHIS2, the national health information system. Patients carry verifiable health IDs accessible by any facility, eliminating the tragic "patient without records" problem.

Disease Surveillance & Outbreak Detection

Real-time epidemiological monitoring aggregating facility reports, community health data, and social signals to detect disease outbreaks 2 3 weeks earlier than traditional surveillance. Currently tracking malaria, cholera, dengue, and tuberculosis across Kenya.

Maternal & Child Health Monitoring

SMS and app-based antenatal care companion that tracks pregnancy milestones, sends appointment reminders, flags danger signs, and connects expectant mothers to their nearest skilled birth attendant. Reduces missed ANC visits by 65% in pilot programmes.

Chronic Disease Management

Digital management platform for diabetes, hypertension, and HIV, enabling patients to log vitals, receive medication reminders, access peer support communities, and share longitudinal data with their care team. Reduces treatment gaps and improves adherence by 48%.

Our Approach

How Popnants MedTech Works in Kenya's Reality

Community Health Worker Empowerment
Kenya's 100,000+ community health workers are the backbone of rural healthcare. We give them smartphone tools that amplify their capabilities, AI diagnostic support, patient tracking, and direct lines to facility staff.
MOH Data Standards Compliance
All platforms are built to Kenya Ministry of Health data standards, DHIS2 compatibility, and the Kenya Health Information System, ensuring our tools integrate with national health architecture and can scale with government adoption.
Multi-Language & Low-Literacy Design
Health tools are designed for Swahili-primary users, with audio guidance for low-literacy patients, pictographic interfaces, and voice-based symptom reporting, because health information cannot have a literacy barrier.
Data Privacy by Design
Patient health data is stored with end-to-end encryption, patient-controlled consent, and audit trails. We comply with Kenya's Data Protection Act (2019) and align with WHO digital health ethics guidelines.

Build Health Technology for Every Kenyan

We partner with hospitals, NGOs, county health departments, and digital health investors to deploy life-changing technology.
